What pathologies can we find?

 

The locomotor system, which we can also call the musculoskeletal system, is made up of the set of bones, muscles, joints, tendons and ligaments. It is a system arranged to move and move, and to support the rest of the structures of our body. It contributes significantly to maintaining a life of relationship, according to the social dimension of the human being.

The diseases that affect this apparatus are the objective of Rheumatology. Therefore, Rheumatology can be defined as the medical specialty that deals with disorders and diseases of the locomotor system. It is, therefore, a very broad specialty and it is cited that Rheumatology deals with almost 200 diseases. Among the best known, we can mention arthritis, osteoarthritis, low back pain, osteoporosis and primary bone diseases or soft tissue rheumatism (tendinitis, bursitis, myopathies...)

Arthritis

They are inflammatory diseases of the joints. These swell, hurt and lose their mobility. They can be transitory or chronic. Other body systems, such as the lungs or the heart, may also be affected. The best known arthritis are Rheumatoid Arthritis, Gout, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and Psoriatic Arthritis.

In this group of diseases, the initial damage settles in the articular cartilage that progressively degenerates and with it the joint hurts, becomes deformed and loses its mobility. Osteoarthritis can be primary (the most frequent and of unknown cause) or secondary to other diseases.

Osteoporosis

Bone is a living tissue. Existing bone is constantly replaced by new bone. The entire skeleton is replaced approximately every 10 years. Osteoporosis occurs when the body is unable to make enough new bone, when too much existing bone is reabsorbed by the body, or both.
